An absolute must do in penang! would highly recomend. Princilia and SJ were very accomodating and managed to change their schedule to fit us in last minute. Pick up and drop off to our hotel was a breeze and the tour itself was informative, adventurous and a breathe of fresh air from the hustle and bustle of georgetown. We were made to feel like family from the moment we met and it felt like there was a genuine desire to make us happy and comfortable along the tour. SJ and Princilia were very informative about the wild life, heritage of the area and surrounds and the scenery itself was soul calming. Only regret is that we couldn’t do a longer tour. Thank you very much Matahari for a very memorable day!!

Our family of five went on an incredible ride with Princilia and SJ, and it was the best thing we did on our trip to Penang. We rode through picturesque countryside, passing through farms and villages that we never would have discovered on our own. It a wonderful way to see village life beyond the city. Princilia was absolutely wonderful. She was warm, genuine, and so engaging with every member of our family. By the end of the day, we felt like we had made a real connection with her, and it was obvious how passionate she is about sharing her home with visitors. The morning finished with the most incredible picnic overlooking the rice paddies, which was the perfect ending to an unforgettable experience. This tour exceeded our expectations and honestly could not have been better. If you’re visiting Penang, don’t miss it. It was an authentic, memorable experience that our family will be talking about for years.

Hele leuke tour, de gidsen SJ en Pricilla nemen je mee op een mooie trip, tijdens een stop laten ze je locaal eten proeven, een aanrader om het eiland beter te leren kennen.

Princilla and SJ curated an intriguing and safe route, delicious drinks and lunch, and informative stop at a palm plantation. A winning combo! I learned and had fun.

Had an awesome trip with Princiliar and SJ. What impressed us was the fact she knew the local people and could strike a conversation with many of them. Thus it gave us a different vibe – not a commercial type of trip, but a homely vibe and that is what I appreciate the most. Princiliar was very knowledgeable in the different types of plants, birds and the life before. It was a treat to get many new insights. She was also very clear with her directions and how she tries to pre-empt you prior any turns or uphills. She made us feel very safe too as she looked after our safety on the road and trails. We had a little treat from SJ too, he brought us around a fishing village and explain the life before, how the mangrove save the villagers from the impact and showed my husband the ruins which he likes. The half day cycling tour was fantastic, it exceeded our expectations. We rode past plantation fields, villages, mangroves and the view was awesome. Though it was a 26km bicycle ride, it was so relaxing. Coffee, lunch was so good. All in all, an excellent trip and I highly recommend their services!

We went for the Classic Tour. The total ride was about 35km with stops along the way. Princilia and SJ were very kind and helpful. Our first stop was at the coffee shop. The Horkasai was excellent, fragrant and smooth. Don’t get me started with the lunch, it was out of this world, plus the view, chef’s kiss. Along the way, Princilia was very willing to share with us the knowledge of the traditional ways and functions of the fruits and herbs found in the villages. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking and definitely worth it even under the hot sun. Highly recommended for those who want to have a different view and perspective of Penang. We highly recommend this bike tour!

The Matahari Penang Countryside Bike Ride turned out to be one of those rare family activities that genuinely delivers on all fronts—scenery, accessibility, and meaningful time together. From the moment we started, the pace felt just right for a mixed group. It wasn’t rushed or overly strenuous, which made it perfect for riding with kids and less experienced cyclists. The route took us through peaceful kampung roads, lush paddy fields, and quiet village paths that you’d probably never discover on your own. It felt like seeing a completely different side of Penang—far removed from the busy streets and tourist hotspots. What really stood out was how engaging the experience was for everyone in the family. There were plenty of little stops along the way—whether to try local snacks, watch traditional crafts, or just take in the scenery. These breaks made the ride feel more like an exploration than a workout, which kept the kids interested the whole time. The guides were another highlight. They were friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about the local culture. They made an effort to include everyone, shared interesting stories, and ensured safety without making it feel overly controlled. In terms of difficulty, it’s very manageable. Even if you’re not particularly fit, the flat terrain and relaxed pacing make it enjoyable rather than tiring. The bikes were well-maintained, and the overall organization felt smooth and professional. If there’s one thing to note, it’s the weather—Penang can get quite hot and humid, so bringing sun protection and staying hydrated is essential. But honestly, that’s part of the experience of being outdoors in Malaysia. Overall, this bike ride is a fantastic family-friendly activity that combines light adventure with cultural discovery. It’s not just about cycling—it’s about slowing down, connecting with the surroundings, and sharing a memorable experience together. Definitely worth doing if you’re in Penang. Big thanks to Princilia and SJ.

Princilia guided a small group of us on a most beautiful tour of the countryside. We rode along rivers, through small hamlets, along rice paddies and through the jungle. We finished the tour at the coast where we were picked up. The bikes were excellent and the bike path was either smooth asphalt or smooth dirt road. It was all flat except for four small hills at the end. Princilla provided insights into the geography, local culture, history and wildlife all along the way. Lunch was a tasty delight. Everything including water was provided. All we needed to bring were sunscreen and sunglasses. I’m sad it’s over! Maybe I’ll book another tour?
